BELLA and TOMMI Do Not Contain Hydrogenated Oils – the Major Source of Trans Fats

BELLA margarine and TOMMI products for spreading, part of Bella Food Holding portfolio, do not contain hydrogenated oils - the major source of trans fats. That was announced on a "Do Bulgarian foods have trans fats" roundtable, organised by Antonia Parvanova - member of the European parliament altogether with business and NGO representatives.

`As a leading manufacturer of food products, which are part of the everyday life of thousands of families, for us health and informed consumer choices are among the most important things. We do not put hydrogenated oils in margarine and oil products that we produce. The raw materials we use are from established manufacturers with proven quality `, said during the discussion Ivan Stoev Manager Culinary  Products at BELLA. Company`s policy is to manufacture products in response to consumer expectations.

Leading Bulgarian experts like Assoc. Prof. Panteley Denev PhD - Vice-Rector of Scientific Research of the University of Food Technology and head of the Department of fats, participated in the roundtable. He urged consumers to carefully read the labels of the products that they choose. Especially for margarines, he stressed that consumers should be fully relaxed, if they choose a product labeled "up to 1% trans fats" or information that the product contains pre-esterified oils (which means that it does not contain Hydrogenated Oils).

BELLA strictly follows the Bulgarian and EU legislation in production and labeling its products in order to guarantee customers quality and awareness.
