Bella Bulgaria – the Preferred Choice for Students in Food Technologies to Gain Practical Experience

In the spirit of collaboration between education and business, students from the University of Food Technologies (UFT) – Plovdiv visited the production facility of Bella Bulgaria in Yambol, where various-sized banitsa pastries, phyllo dough, and puff pastry are manufactured. The initiative is part of the company’s continuing education programme, aimed at combining academic preparation with real production practice.

The visit provided future technologists and engineers with an opportunity to closely observe the modern production processes, the implemented food safety and quality systems, as well as the company’s sustainable practices. The Bella Bulgaria team presented the students with the full production cycle – from raw material selection and quality control to the final product reaching the consumer – including the packaging process, which ensures full protection from environmental impact through advanced barrier properties.

The students showed particular interest in the technical and technological innovations implemented by Bella Bulgaria, which have led to a twofold increase in the production capacity of dough-based products.

‘Our goal is for students to see the real-world application of the knowledge they gain at the university. We believe that the combination of theory and practice is the most reliable path to successful professional development,’ representatives of Bella Bulgaria shared.

The company is a longstanding partner of UFT and actively contributes to the training of future professionals through internships, practical training, and joint projects. In recent years, dozens of graduates have chosen Bella Bulgaria plants for their professional realisation, proving the effectiveness of the model based on joint education within a real business environment.

For academic institutions, cooperation with industry is key to modern education, as it provides students with access to high-tech production facilities and the opportunity to work with experienced practitioners, helping them build confidence and competitive skills.

The visit in Yambol is part of a long-term programme by Bella Bulgaria aimed at strengthening the connection between educational institutions and business. The company strives to develop the co-educational model as an effective tool for preparing professionals that meet the real needs of the economy. It also invests in improving education quality by funding the creation of innovative learning environments within universities. This year, with the support of Bella Bulgaria, the renovated training complex of the Department of Meat and Fish Technology at the UFT Faculty of Technology opened its doors. Bella Bulgaria received a special award for ‘longstanding cooperation, unconditional support of the educational process, and practical training of students’.

With its long-term support for young specialists and openness to innovation, Bella Bulgaria reinforces its position not only as a leader in the food industry but also as a responsible partner in the development of Bulgarian education and the future of the sector.
