Green Light for Bella Bulgaria’s €15 Million Investment in Yambol
October 20
On 20 October 2026, Bella Bulgaria AD, a leading food producer, presented its latest investment in the modernisation and expansion of its production facilities in Yambol. The investment is being implemented under the project ‘Support for Production Investments in Bella Bulgaria AD’, funded by the 2021–2027 Regional Development Programme.
The project envisages a comprehensive package of investments in tangible assets to expand the company’s production capacity by 100% in the puff pastry and puff pastry products segments and by 5% in the dough products packaged in a modified atmosphere segment.
The investment includes construction works for a new production building and the renovation of an existing one, as well as the provision of equipment to expand capacity across the entire production chain—from raw material intake and processing to storage and delivery of the finished product to the retail network.
To ensure the company’s energy independence and reduce energy costs, the project also includes the introduction of renewable energy technologies for the generation and storage of electricity for own consumption. It includes the construction of an integrated facility comprising a 1.65 MW photovoltaic power plant and an on-site energy storage system with a battery capacity of 5.016 MWh. The facility is expected to generate 2216,4 MWh of electricity annually, covering more than 50% of the energy needs of the company’s dough products manufacturing facility.
The project is expected to create 46 new jobs, including positions for workers from the coal mining and energy production sectors in the Stara Zagora region. The project directly aligns with the principles and objectives of the Just Transition Plan and contributes directly to supporting climate neutrality goals.
‘Our investment is comprehensive in nature,’ emphasised during the event Valeri Vasilev – Chief Operations Director. ‘We are not only increasing our puff pastry production capacity to 40 tonnes per day, but also investing in the optimisation of the entire production chain—from raw material intake and processing to the delivery of the finished product to the retail network,’ he added.
‘Every new investment and every new job is a tremendous success for all of us,’ said Vasil Aleksandrov, Deputy Mayor of Yambol Municipality, commenting on the project. He thanked Bella Bulgaria for its confidence in the municipality and stressed that the company could always rely on Yambol Municipality as a trusted and reliable partner.
‘Bella Bulgaria’s upcoming project adds value to all the investments implemented under the Just Transition Fund, including those being carried out by Yambol Municipality,’ commented Galina Karadzhova, Head of the European Funding and Programmes Department at Yambol Municipality. She noted that under the Regional Development Programme, residential buildings, public buildings and production facilities were being renovated and upgraded. ‘This is a positive sign for the development of Yambol and the South-East Region as a whole,’ she emphasised.
The investment was announced in the presence of representatives of the municipal and regional administrations, the Labour Office and the media.
